We believe amateur radio clubs are the backbone of the hobby.

Clubs are where new hams find their footing, where Elmers pass on decades of knowledge, and where communities come together over a shared passion for radio. We want to help them thrive.

The challenge

Running an amateur radio club takes real dedication. Officers volunteer their time to coordinate members, schedule nets, organize events, manage finances, and keep everything moving. Clubs have always found ways to make it work: spreadsheets, email lists, Facebook groups, paper logs. But these tools weren't built for the job.

That means officers spend more time on administrative work than they'd like, and when leadership transitions happen, it can be hard to keep continuity. Meanwhile, newly licensed hams don't always have an easy way to discover the great clubs in their area.

These aren't failures. They're just the reality of running a volunteer organization without purpose-built tools.

How Groundwave helps

Groundwave is one platform that brings together everything a club does. Member management, net logging, events, elections, dues, documents, messaging, repeater listings, and a public club page, all in one place.

Officers can spend less time on admin and more time on the air. New members can find clubs through a searchable national directory with an interactive map. Club data stays organized, accessible, and persistent, no matter who holds which office this year.

We're not here to change the culture of amateur radio clubs. We're building the infrastructure that makes the work your volunteers already do a little easier.

Built by hams

Groundwave is built by David Rinaldo, KZ4LA, and operated by Whisker Tech LLC.

Every feature in Groundwave exists because real clubs need it. This is a product built by someone who understands the culture: the nets, the Field Days, the Elmer relationships, the bylaws debates, the repeater coordination. We're not guessing at what clubs need; we're building alongside them.
